UT-TF1 GENERAL MEMORANDUM – 2023-003

December 11, 2023

FOR:                Utah Task Force 1 Members

National Urban Search & Rescue Response System

FROM:             Bryan Case, Division Chief,

                        Program Manager

Salt Lake Urban Search and Rescue, Utah Task Force 1

SUBJECT:    UTTF1 General Memorandum 2003-003

2024 UT-TF1 MEMBER READINESS EVENT (MRE)

UTAH TASK FORCE 1

Salt Lake Urban Search & Rescue

MEMBER READINESS EVENTS (MRE) held in January & February 2024

Every year, all members must participate in a Member Readiness Event (MRE) to complete several required steps to become/remain deployable.  For 2024, the in-person portion will offer several dates and times to assist in a more direct and supportive MRE.  This year’s theme will be to reintroduce the general, administrative, and training requirements of the task force to membership and the lift required by all to maintain mission ready status.

All members will be required to attend in person the Members Readiness Event this year.   There will be a classroom portion, fit testing, gear check and member file/contact information update section.  The ESF9 training portal will still have available for reference the UTTF1 Deployment Sequence Training and the Online Database Access video.

New members who may be waiting to attend a FEMA certification course are also expected to attend the MRE in person as the Temporary Deployment Status condition (TDS) has been ended and the task force must now work to send all members to instructor lead training (ILT) that have not been received formal FEMA US&R Training.   These personnel are also required to watch the videos in the ESF9 training portal and to update their member files using the EMOS member portal.  If members are not using the portal this will be set up for you at the MRE.  New members will be issued gear and fit-tested later based on the availability of training/certification courses from FEMA.

MREs are scheduled for the dates listed below.  There are one or two event times for each date (0900 and 1300).  Each time spots will accommodate 15-18 members.  We will continue to maintain smaller groups to process through the Member Readiness Event. All MRE events will be held at UT-TF1 Headquarters located at 6726 South Navigator Drive in West Jordan, Utah 84084.

We also will be re-taking pictures of each task force member.  Be clean and presentable for those pictures.  We would also like to remind you to be clean shaven for pictures and fit testing.
